The opening of “The Walkabout,” a new grab-and-go sandwich shop, is set to redefine the lunchtime experience for downtown Greenville residents and workers.
Conveniently located next door to sister concept The Bellwether Public House at 941 S. Main Street, adjacent to Fluor Field, The Walkabout is scheduled to open its doors on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Operating from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, The Walkabout aims to provide a quick and flavorful solution for those seeking quality grab-and-go lunches.
“The Walkabout bridges a gap for the downtown workforce, offering a convenient option for high-quality grab-and-go lunches”, said Executive Director Nick Lincoln. “We understand the demands of busy workdays and aim to make lunch breaks hassle-free.”
The concept behind The Walkabout is simple yet exciting: global sandwiches that take diners on a journey around the world. The menu boasts eight unique sandwiches, with highlights including the “Bombay Club,” featuring masala spiced potato, cilantro chutney, tomato, pepper, onion, and mozzarella, and an incredible “Tuscan Tuna Melt,” crafted from oil- poached tuna conserva, provolone, olive, caper, and garden greens.
Chef Taylor Montgomery, the creative culinary force behind Urban Wren, The Bellwether, and now The Walkabout, reveals that his passion for travel inspired this menu concept. “Having had the privilege to explore cities across the globe, I’ve always believed that the best way to understand a culture is through its food,” said Chef Montgomery. “The Walkabout allows us to share our whole team’s enthusiasm for global flavors with the Greenville community, offering them a taste of different cities through our unique sandwich creations.”
