Issaqueena Chapter Celebrates Third Anniversary and Installs New Officers
May 31, 2026The Issaqueena Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), celebrated its third anniversary with a special evening marked by fellowship, tradition, and new beginnings.
During the meeting, members welcomed a new chapter member through an induction ceremony and installed officers for the upcoming term.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Honorary Regent pin to Stephanie Bowen in recognition of her outstanding leadership and dedicated service to the chapter during her term as regent.
“It is with heartfelt appreciation that we honor Stephanie Bowen, who provided extraordinary leadership to the Issaqueena Chapter during her two years as regent,” said Karen Petit, incoming regent of the Issaqueena Chapter, NSDAR.
“She led with dignity, grace and wit, creating an atmosphere that inspired members to become even more engaged in service, historic preservation and patriotism. Under her guidance, our fledgling chapter grew in purpose and strength, earning recognition for its volunteer efforts and meaningful contributions to the community,” Petit said. “Stephanie’s vision and steady leadership have helped build a strong foundation for the future of the Issaqueena Chapter.”
Bowen will continue serving the chapter as incoming registrar and has completed extensive training with the South Carolina DAR to assist prospective members and new applicants.
The ceremony concluded with the traditional passing of the regent’s gavel to Karen Petit, who will lead the chapter forward as regent for the coming term.
As vice regent, Petit organized community events, coordinated guest speakers for monthly chapter meetings, and represented the chapter at statewide commemorations. She also serves as the South Carolina DAR Public Relations & Media State Chair.
A published children’s book author, Petit’s most recent work focuses on the American Revolution. She remains actively involved in promoting the Issaqueena Chapter throughout the local community and across South Carolina.
“It is a tremendous honor to serve as the incoming regent of the Issaqueena Chapter, NSDAR,” said Karen Petit. “I am truly grateful for the opportunity to lead a chapter made up of such dedicated, talented, and service-minded women who are committed to preserving our nation’s history, supporting our communities, and promoting patriotism.”
Petit said the role holds special personal meaning as she honors the legacy of her Revolutionary War ancestors, including a female Patriot and two ancestors who lost their lives fighting for American independence.
“Their courage and sacrifice are a powerful reminder of the responsibility we share to preserve and tell the stories of those who helped shape our nation,” Petit said. “I look forward to serving alongside this incredible group of women as we continue that mission together.”
Founded in 2023, the Issaqueena Chapter continues to promote historic preservation, education, patriotism, and community service throughout the Lakelands region. Chapter members are actively participating in America 250! initiatives and other community outreach activities commemorating the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
