J.J. Messervy Honored with Forty Under 40 Award

CHARLESTON, SC – May 20, 2009 – James H. “J.J.” Messervy of Jarrard, Nowell & Russell, LLC, a Charleston-based accounting and business advisory firm, has been named among the region’s top business achievers under the age of 40. The annual Forty Under 40 award was presented by the Charleston Regional Business Journal at an event May 19 at Alhambra Hall in Mt. Pleasant.
Messervy, age 27, serves as a consultant at Jarrard, Nowell & Russell, where he provides property tax advice and assists with income tax preparation and captive insurance audits. He is also auditor-elect for Dorchester County and will take office in July.
Prior to joining Jarrard, Nowell & Russell, Messervy worked as a Realtor® for Prudential Carolina Real Estate (Carolina One) in Summerville, selling both residential and commercial properties in the Tri-County area. In 2007, he received the Prudential National Service Award, and in 2005 he was named the recipient of the Most Helpful Agent Award. He previously served on the United States Commerce Committee in Washington, D.C.
Messervy, who graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business in 2004, focused his studies on finance and risk management. He was a member of the Gamma Ioto Sigma Professional Insurance and Risk Management Fraternity and the Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity. He currently serves as treasurer of the Summerville Exchange Club and as a member of the Miler Country Club Board of Directors. He is also actively involved with the Francis R. Willis SPCA, having served a two-year term as vice president and a one-year term as president. Messervy currently resides in Summerville.
