Jack Griffeth Takes Over as President of Greenville Bar

COLUMBIA, SC – December 16, 2010 – Collins & Lacy, P.C. is pleased to announce that Jack Griffeth will begin his term as president of the Greenville Bar on January 1, 2011 having been elected by the Bar at its annual meeting on December 16th. Mr. Griffeth is a shareholder based in the Collins & Lacy Greenville office.

Griffeth received his Juris Doctor from Duke University. He has been a member of the Bar since 1976. The same year Duke created the Charles Murphy Award for Jack, in recognition of his unique collegial contributions to the Duke Law School community. Jack has previously served in a variety of Greenville Bar Leadership positions, including President –Elect. He was the 2008 recipient of the Greenville Bar’s most prestigious honor, the Tommy Thomason Award. 

According to Jack, his most special privilege is to serve as chair of the Greenville Bar Memorial Service Committee, a position he has held since 1992.

Founding Partner Joel Collins, said Jack Griffeth has been an exceptional leader all his life. He was president of the Wofford College and Duke University Law School student bodies. “There’s no more well respected member of the Greenville Bar Association than my esteemed partner Jack Griffeth,”  Collins says.

Griffeth’s 34-year practice of law has focused on defense trial work, representing employers in employment related litigation and mediation.  Jack serves as General Counsel to Wofford College, Furman University, and Spartanburg Methodist College.  He has been certified as a mediator by the South Carolina Bar and speaks frequently on the subject of mediation. He is considered one of South Carolina’s pre-eminent attorneys and for six consecutive years has been named by his peers a Best Lawyer in America, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession.
