James E. Clyburn Golf Center to Host Girls Golf Day

April 8, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – The James E. Clyburn Golf Center is hosting a Girls Golf Day on Saturday, April 18, 2015 to help kick off the start of its girls golf program.

The Clyburn Golf Center has joined more than 270 communities across the United States who are recognized as a LPGA USGA Girls Golf program site. Girls Golf, which is the only national initiative of its kind, is administered through a partnership between The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Foundation and the United States Golf Association (USGA).

Girls Golf programs focus on inspiring girls to feel confident, build positive self-esteem, and live active and healthy lifestyles by incorporating the “Five E’s of Girls Golf”: Empower, Enrich, Engage, Exercise and Energize.

The free event is open to girls ages 5-17 and will feature coaching from collegiate and professional women golf players including participants from the Golf Channel’s “The Big Break.” Celebrity coaches include Chris Brady Wolfe (“The Big Break”/LPGA Player), Brenda McLarnon (“The Big Break”/Future’s Tour Player), Ashley Prange (“The Big Break”/LPGA Player) as well as members of Columbia College’s women’s golf team.
