Janice Malone to serve as Executive Principal while continuing leadership at Sanders-Clyde Elementary

Charleston County School District (CCSD) announced that Janice Malone, a veteran school leader with over four decades of outstanding service, will continue her service as principal of Sanders-Clyde Elementary while assuming additional Executive Principal duties, including the mentoring of principals, effective immediately.

This designation acknowledges Malone’s exceptional track record of success leading some of the district’s most challenging schools, achieving significant academic growth, and building strong school cultures. The role will provide enhanced leadership support and strengthen principal development across CCSD.

Throughout her distinguished career, Malone has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to student success, innovation, and community engagement. Under her leadership, Sanders-Clyde achieved the highest student growth among Title I elementary schools in her first year, and the school recently earned its highest-ever state report card rating in 2024. She was previously recognized as a Star Principal in both 2012 and 2022 and led Matilda F. Dunston Elementary School to national recognition in 2012 as a South Carolina National Title I Distinguished School.
