Jill Johnson Joins Newberry as Director of Marketing

NEWBERRY, SC – Jill Johnson has joined Newberry College as director of Marketing effective April 1, 2014. She will be responsible for developing, implementing and measuring a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aimed at driving revenue to the institution. 

“With broad-based experience in higher education, Jill’s expertise will be an asset to the college,” said Scott Joyner, vice president of Institutional Advancement. “She will play a pivotal role in telling the Newberry College story across all communication channels.” 

Johnson comes to Newberry College from the Charlotte area where she supported a variety of clients in education, retail and banking through her consultancy, J-Squared Marketing & Communications. 

Previously, Johnson served as director of marketing and communications at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn., where she led all facets of the university’s marketing and communication strategy, including public relations, marketing, internal communications, website, social media and crisis communications. Her experience also includes three years at a Minneapolis-based public relations agency where she planned and implemented strategies for a variety of retail, consumer products and nonprofit organizations. 

Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism at the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree in Organizational Management from Concordia University, St. Paul.
