Joanna Hornets Return to the Field After 60+ Years

Opening Day Set for June 3 in Newberry

After more than six decades off the diamond, the Joanna Hornets are making a triumphant return.

This summer, the Hornets will take the field once again as part of the Southern Shores Collegiate Wood Bat Baseball League, featuring standout college players from across the region. The team’s comeback marks an exciting new chapter for Joanna’s rich baseball legacy.

Opening Day Details:

• Date: Tuesday, June 3, 2025

• Time: First pitch at 6:00 PM

• Opponent: Kings

• Location: Newberry High School Baseball Stadium

• Tickets: $6.00 at the gate

• Seating: Bleachers available or bring your own lawn chairs and blankets

• Extras: Concessions provided by the NHS Baseball Boosters — enjoy food, fun, and family-friendly entertainment

Due to ongoing renovations at the historic Joanna stadium, the Hornets will play their 2025 home season at Newberry High School. Despite the temporary relocation, the spirit and energy of Joanna baseball is alive and well.
