Role: Communications Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Marketing

Status: Full-time

About The Position
The life sciences is the fastest-growing industry in South Carolina. As the sole organization responsible for building, advancing and growing this industry, SCbio seeks a motivated, strategic, and talented Communications Coordinator to develop and distribute high-quality content across multiple communications channels.

This role will work closely with the Director of Marketing to creatively and effectively communicate the value of SCbio’s programs and initiatives to its audiences including investors, state officials, media outlets, prospective investors and life sciences professionals throughout the Southeast and beyond. The ideal candidate will enjoy capturing and producing content – images, videos, and audio – then developing a clear and professional written message to accompany it. They will have an eye for branding, ensuring all marketing and communications materials follow the SCbio style guidelines. Finally, they will always look to analytics and data from social media, email marketing, and other monitoring platforms to evaluate and improve the SCbio communications strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development and implementation of communication strategies and campaigns.
• Create and distribute content for all SCbio communication channels, including social media, websites, email, print, etc.
• Manage and monitor social media accounts, engaging with followers and responding to inquiries promptly.
• Coordinate the production of printed marketing and communications materials, ensuring consistency in branding and messaging.
• Collaborate with SCbio team members to gather information and develop compelling stories that promote our initiatives and achievements.
• Assist in promoting events, both virtual and in-person, ensuring effective communication and coverage.
• Monitor and analyze communication metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies, providing regular reports to the Director of Marketing
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve our communication efforts.

Basic Knowledge & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
• 1-2 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related area.
• Knowledge of Associated Press Style
• Familiarity with graphic design tools and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
• Proficiency in content management systems for social media, email, and website.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience with analytics tools.
