Under the supervision of the Director, the Financial Aid Verification Coordinator/Counselor is responsible for performing preliminary financial aid counseling for prospects, students, and parents; monitors satisfactory academic progress and suspensions; processes awards for assigned population. Processes Verification, SC National Guard CAPS, and SC Vocational Rehabilitation forms. This position also assists with other certification, revision, and counseling.
• Responsible for the timely awarding of SC National Guard CAPS funds to recipients.
• Reviews student files for packaging. Prep system for follow-up correspondence to students. Ensure system is properly coded for electronic submission to CPS and printing of awards.
• Review and assist with SC Vocational Rehabilitation certification request. Processes SC DSS Educational Income/Deduction Verification request.
• Monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), system updates, and printing of mailing of notification letters. Performs routine office duties to include prepping of FA appeals for review and correspondence to students. Maintain and review suspension lists, place holds on awards as appropriate.
• Review, monitors and processes a minimum of 50% of the files for verification. Collecting needed items, updating system for verified items and completing the verification process in the system.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 1 year financial aid or related experience, or equivalent education and experience. Successful background check is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Financial aid office experience and familiarity with financial aid related software systems and aid modules.

Salary: $41,258
