Medical Billing Specialist

The Unumb Center for Neurodevelopment is seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. The Unumb Center for Neurodevelopment is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic services to people with autism spectrum disorder. We exist to make life better for individuals with autism and their families across the life span.

Job Summary:

As a rapidly growing organization, we are looking for a full-time Billing Specialist to help us in managing our end-to-end revenue and collections cycle. The Billing Specialist, a key position in the revenue cycle, manages the claims process, including accurate and timely claim creation, follow-up and correspondence with providers, payors, and patients. Key Responsibilities include:

· Provides EMR technical support to staff and clients
· Audits claims for accuracy based on payor policy prior to submission
· Files initial and secondary insurance claims electronically via EMR software
· Posts payments and reconciles claims, ensuring claims accuracy
· Researches and resolves unpaid or denied claims with payors
· Prepares patient statements and collects payment
· Facilitates staff trainings related to billing and insurance
· Monitors key metrics and prepares reports related to revenue cycle management
· Ensures strict HIPAA-compliant confidentiality with all client-related data
· Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

· Knowledge of insurance and medical billing preferred

· Requires a high level of problem solving and analytic skills

· Strong organization, written and verbal communication skills

· Be able to function both independently and on a team

· Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

· Reliable transportation & a valid Driver’s License

· Clearance of a criminal background and DSS child abuse registry check

· Verification of eligibility to work in the United States

Job Details:

· Full-Time Position

· Located in downtown Columbia, SC (this is not a remote position)

· Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM including an hour lunch break

· Pay starts at $16 per hour depending on experience

· Benefits include medical, vision, dental, short-term & long-term disability
