John P. Thomas Elementary School receives $20,000 donation from Office Depot

December 14, 2022

It’s the season of giving and representatives from Office Depot dropped off quite a nice gift at John P. Thomas Elementary School on December 14 – a check for $20,000.

The money will be used to help update different spaces in the building and provide teachers with additional funds for their classrooms. Principal Selina Latimore says she wants to make sure people see the impact this donation will have on the school.

“We’re always looking to do what’s best for our kids and create a wonderful environment. Having this donation will impact us greatly and will help on many levels,” she said.

This summer, Office Depot and OfficeMax leveraged their retail footprint and partnership with Round It Up America© to provide back-to-school shoppers and business clients with the opportunity to support Title I schools across the country.

From July through September, Office Depot and OfficeMax collected nearly $2.2 million to benefit nearly 70 Title I schools nationwide, including John P. Thomas Elementary.

“This is more than just pens and pencils. This is a way to provide for the entire school. We’re glad to help in any way we can,” said Office Depot District Sales Manager Alan Newsome.
