A Conversation with John Read, CEO, Tri-County Cradle to Career Collaborative

Education, Giving Back, Diversity

In 2012, a group of dedicated leaders from the Tri-County region (Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties) came together to focus on our community’s efforts for improving educational outcomes. Knowing education is key to the quality of life and the economic success of the region, they committed to a vision where every child will graduate from high school prepared for either further education or a career in the modern workforce.

Countless partners are already invested in this vision. From school districts using innovative instructional techniques, to businesses offering apprenticeships, churches providing mentors, community groups helping with homework, and non-profits and volunteers working directly in our schools, every day countless initiatives are joining with parents and teachers to help children learn and succeed.  The Tri-County Cradle to Career Collaborative (TCCC) is a community movement supporting a “collective impact” approach to achieving this shared community vision.

On March 3, the TCCC released its Regional Education Report: Chapter Two. The report provides a comprehensive overview of educational outcomes for public school students in the Tri-County area.
