John Welsh joins First Citizens Bank as commercial banking manager

John Welsh has joined First Citizens Bank as senior vice president and manager of the company’s Midlands commercial banking team. Based at the company’s 1230 Main Street office in Columbia, he and his team serve the financial needs of commercial clients and key corporate customers in the Midlands area.

Welsh has worked in the financial services industry for 17 years. He joins First Citizens from PNC Bank, where he has served as commercial relationship manager for the Midlands for the past five years. He also served as city executive in Lexington, S.C., for Carolina First (now TD Bank), and as a commercial relationship manager in Columbia with BB&T. He received a bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of South Carolina.

An active member of the community, Welsh currently serves on the Board of Directors for Harvest Hope Food Bank, Committee of 100 and the Dickerson Children’s Advocacy Center, where he also serves as treasurer.
