COLUMBIA, SC – October 17, 2008 – The Young Leaders Society (YLS) wants you to join its members for an evening of food, fun and philanthropy at an Oyster Roast on Nov. 14 at University House from 6 to 10 p.m.
The first YLS Oyster Roast is an excellent opportunity for young professionals of the Midlands to gather for an evening of food and fun while contributing to a good cause. The event will include oysters, chili, beer and wine, entertainment from Finesse Band and a supply drive for Leapheart Place.
The cost is $25 per person, and members and non-members are all invited. Registration is available at www.ylsmidlands.com/events.
YLS was formed to provide community involvement, professional development and personal development opportunities to its members, who are community-oriented individuals between the ages of 21 and 45. However, people of all ages are invited to attend this event. YLS offers its members many ways to get involved with various United Way agencies, to make a difference in people’s lives, and to become influential in the Midlands community.

Leaphart Place is one agency that YLS has chosen to assist this year. Leaphart Place provides housing and services to young adults with disabilities who were formally in out-of-home care, homeless or at risk of homelessness. Recently opened, Leaphart Place has an urgent need to provide their residents various products for daily living that most of us take for granted. Supplies needed include personal hygiene items, linens, bath towels, kitchen utensils, cleaning supplies and non-perishable food. These items will be collected at YLS events throughout the year.
