Jon Woodsby attains highest Parks and Recreation Professional Certification

SPARTANBURG, SC – December 18, 2012 – Jon Woodsby, Recreation Centers Manager for Spartanburg County Parks Department, has achieved the highest professional certification in the parks and recreation field. Jon recently attained the Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) certification, which is a national standard for managerial, administrative and executive parks and recreation professionals.

This mastery-level credential focuses on the practical knowledge and current real-world skills necessary in today’s changing parks and recreation environment.  While several Parks employees are certified in their field, Jon is one of only two professionals in S.C. holding the CPRE certificate (the other is in Aiken County). 

Jon has also become a nationally-certified Playground Safety Inspector and is heading up the Department’s safety and risk management program.
