March 14, 2017

Music for All, one of the nation’s largest music education organizations, invited River Bluff High Student Ian Merlin Jones to perform with its 2017 Honor Band of America, a prestigious honor ensemble.

Following his audition, Jones, who plays percussion for the RBHS band, was chosen from applicants across the country. The 2017 Honor Band of America performed at the Music for All National Festival held March 9–11 at Butler University in Indianapolis.

“To be selected for membership in this elite national ensemble is a great achievement and honor,” said Eric Martin, Music for All president and CEO. “The 2017 Honor Band of America members are ambassadors of America’s music programs, as well as their states, schools and communities.”

The talented Jones previously earned the position of first chair percussion in the South Carolina All-State Band and won the National Association for Music Education Student Composers Competition in 2015.
