Judson Mill District uses helicopter to install 21 HVAC units at historic Warehouse building

Working with FairLifts, a corporate helicopter charters & lifts services company, and Tuck & Howell, an expert heating and cooling company, Judson Mill District today installed 21 HVAC rooftop units at the historic Warehouse building.

During the hour-long operation, a helicopter plucked each of the units weighing between 1,500 to 2,000 pounds from an adjacent parking lot and delivered them to a team of eight that positioned each unit on the roof of the Warehouse building. They averaged approximately one unit installed every three minutes.

Planning for the installation began several months ago, according to James McConnell, operations manager and residential salesman at Tuck & Howell, Inc. “The biggest challenge of the project was coordinating the flight plan and staging the proper placement for each unit so that it would be installed precisely where it was needed.”
