Judy Davis Recognized as the Midlands’ Leading Philanthropist in 2014

COLUMBIA, SC  – United Way of the Midlands will recognize Judy Davis as the 2014 Humanitarian of the Year Award recipient at United Way’s annual Humanitarian of the Year Dinner and Award Ceremony on Feb. 26 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

Davis currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina (BCBSSC) and its companion companies.

Screen Shot 2015-02-23 at 11.56.24 AMDavis’ many interests, coupled with the resources of BCBSSC, allow her to encourage the deployment of volunteers, capital and leadership to critical causes across the region and state.

She currently serves as a board member for Engenuity SC, SC Launch, United Way of the Midlands, Central Carolina Community Foundation, Columbia College and Palmetto Conservation Foundation. She has previously served as chair of the United Way of the Midlands Board of Directors, the South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy and Trinity Housing Corporation of Columbia. In 2006, Davis chaired the United Way campaign, raising $9.5 million.

“Judy not only serves on numerous boards but she chairs them and she makes things happen. She is very engaged and passionately committed not only to her senior executive position at BlueCross BlueShield, but to everyone and every organization in the community that she helps,” said Beth Dinndorf, President of Columbia College.

Her unwavering optimism is contagious and has inspired so many others to serve and make a difference.”

The Humanitarian of the Year Award is presented every year to an individual who has exhibited extraordinary service and philanthropy in the Midlands.
