Jump-start Your Job Search at RCPL

COLUMBIA, SC – June 12, 2009 – South Carolina’s unemployment rate is one of the highest in the country, but Midlands’ residents can access a variety of free resources on finding employment at the Richland County Public Library.

RCPL will also host a free Jump-start Your Job Search program at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 25 in the Bostick Auditorium of the Main Library, located at 1431 Assembly St.

RCPL and several local agencies will offer advice on surviving a job loss, writing a resume, polishing interview skills and more. Participating agencies include: Experience Works; Job Corps; Midlands Technical College; Midlands Workforce Center; Richland County Public Library; South Carolina Budget and Control Board, Office of Human Resources; and South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department.

RCPL offers a variety of resources to assist library users in their search for employment. RCPL’s recently launched Virtual Career Resources Web page allows users to research occupations, create professional resumes, learn interviewing skills and search current job listings in your library’s online employment center.
