Kairos Mediterranean set to open location in Columbia on Friday

June 11, 2020

Kairos Mediterranean will begin serving up its fast casual mediterranean fare at its new location in Columbia, SC starting Friday. The restaurant will open its doors with a number of health and safety measures in place, including HEPA filtration and in-duct air purifying systems.

Kairos will be located at 4600 Devine Street amidst a number of local restaurants, retail shops, and boutiques. The dining room will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week between the hours of 11am-9pm.

Kairos began offering its craveable, mediterranean-inspired dishes in Mt. Pleasant, SC in 2017. It’s popularity allowed its expansion to another Charleston location as well as two in the Upstate, but this will be Columbia’s first taste of the restaurant’s fresh made-in-house menu.

The menu is filled with various spreads, toppings, grain bowls, pitas, platters, and salads capable of meeting most dietary preferences.

“After hearing from Columbia residents asking to bring Kairos to their neighborhoods, we are excited to finally be opening our first location here,” said owner Cary Chastain.

In response to the current health issues, Chastain decided to put Kairos on the cutting edge of customer safety and health by implementing health measures that far exceeds the ventilation recommendations by the CDC and OSHA.

In addition to normal standard health measures of changing gloves, washing hands, and sanitizing tables, door knobs and other high volume areas, Kairos has installed new technology to ensure the health and safety of customers and employees.

A commercial Air Purifier, specially designed for larger, high traffic areas, will provide HEPA Filtration, while a second In-Duct Air Purifier with dual ionizers will be installed in the air handler to provide 99.9% clean, safe air throughout the restaurant.

“Customer and employee safety is very important to me which made the decision to upgrade our measures very easy,” said owner Cary Chastain. “We’ve installed the purification systems in the new Columbia location and we’re in the process of doing the same at our other four locations.”
