Kathleen Wall and Chuck Belding support scholarships at Greenville Technical College

GREENVILLE, SC – Kathleen Wall and Chuck Belding have donated $25,000 to Greenville Technical College (GTC) to provide scholarship assistance. The couple, who moved to Greenville in 1998, graduated from other academic institutions. Their support of GTC is aimed at helping scholarship recipients acquire the skills needed for success. Half of the fund will be used to provide tuition assistance for students with disabilities.

Wall and Belding enjoyed successful careers of their own.  After serving in the military as a combat helicopter pilot, Belding worked in operations for McDonald’s Corporation.  Prior to relocating to the Greenville area, he owned and operated his own business — a fine wine and gourmet store.  Wall retired in 2011 after working for BMW for 25 years as an attorney and VP of human resources. Their intent is to help others achieve by removing financial barriers to education. Over time, their donation focus has shifted from national concerns and organizations to regional and local recipients.

“As we looked at giving opportunities, we decided we could do the most good for the largest number of people by providing scholarship funds for Greenville Technical College,” said Wall. “We want to help those entering the college right out of high school, those who realize later they need a college education to access better opportunities, and people who decide they’d like to pursue a different path.”
