Katie Schanz returns as chair of KEMOPALOOZA 2020

January 27, 2020

Katie Schanz has returned for a third year as chair of KEMOPALOOZA, Prisma Health Midlands Foundation’s signature fundraising event benefiting CAMP KEMO Programs of the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands. As chair, Schanz leads a committee of community volunteers and collaborates with the Prisma Health Midlands Foundation team.

Schanz has supported Prisma Health Midlands Foundation and Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands as a member of the Children’s Hospital board of directors since 2016 and KEMOPALOOZA chair since 2018.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with Katie again for KEMOPALOOZA,” said Jamie Dowtin, events director, Children’s Hospital, at Prisma Health Midlands Foundation. “Katie’s commitment to Children’s Hospital is unwavering, and it shows in her leadership of the event committee.”

The 12th annual KEMOPALOOZA will be held on Thursday, April 30, at a new location—Central Energy, 2030 Gregg St., in Columbia. Proceeds benefit CAMP KEMO Programs of the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital—Midlands. The programs focus on providing psychosocial support to the families and children affected by cancer and blood disorders. They’re designed to educate, inspire and support the entire family so life is more manageable and enjoyable. It is important to provide emotional support from the moment of diagnosis through the end of treatment and beyond. This includes late effects clinics for long term survivors and bereavement support for families whose children do not survive. CAMP KEMO Programs are fully funded with community support. The Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders is the oldest and largest facility of its kind in South Carolina.

“I am beyond honored to chair KEMOPALOOZA for another year and am looking forward to the best year yet,” said Schanz. “Chairing this event is a small way I can give back to my community and help brighten the lives of children during their treatment and beyond. Our community is invited to join us for KEMOPALOOZA and sing the night away!”

On April 30, KEMOPALOOZA guests will experience dueling pianos, craft beer, great food and a chance to win an Apple Watch. Tickets are $50 per person, $90 per couple and $250 for a party pack of six tickets. Tickets are available now at KEMOPALOOZA.org. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.
