KBR/Turner Joint Venture Joins Boeing for Ribbon-Cutting to Celebrate Opening of Delivery Center

November 17, 2011

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC –  November 17, 2011 – KBR/Turner Joint Venture participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, November 11, at Boeing’s South Carolina campus to celebrate the opening of Boeing’s new South Carolina Delivery Center — where new 787 airplanes will be delivered to their owners. KBR/Turner served as general contractor 58,000-square-foot Delivery Center. The architect of record is CJMW Architecture.

The facility includes two glass boarding bridges featuring color-changing LED lights. These lights complement the extensive nighttime delivery lighting system located on the exterior of the building as well as the interior architectural color-changing accent lighting in the three-story atrium. Features such as wood ceilings, a viewing balcony, floating terrazzo feature stairs and stainless steel accents complement the facility’s high-end interior finishes. The project was completed on schedule in November.

Boeing’s South Carolina Delivery Center sits adjacent to the company’s 787 Final Assembly building completed in May 2011. KBR/Turner, with design partner BRPH, was responsible for design and construction of this award-winning project. Related project components completed by KBR/Turner in recent months include the truck inspection building, the Welcome Center, the Flightline and the site’s cafeteria. The Delivery Center is the last major component of KBR/Turner’s work package at the Boeing campus.
