Kelly Services Sponsors Berkeley County Schools’ 2014 Teacher of the Year

MONCKS CORNER, SC  – Berkeley County School District’s 2014 Teacher of the Year, Lauren Reeder, a second grade teacher at Marrington Elementary School, has been sponsored by Kelly Temporary Services to appear at the South Carolina Teacher of the Year Celebration in Columbia on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention center.

Reeder will be honored at the celebration organized by South Carolina Future Minds, a non-profit that organizes private support for the state’s public schools.

“It’s terrific when businesses such as Kelly Temporary Services show their support for great teachers in our public schools,” said Trip DuBard, executive director of South Carolina Future Minds. “Teachers like Ms. Reeder make us grateful for the work of all South Carolina educators.”

The South Carolina Teacher of the Year Celebration brings together leaders of government, business and education to honor the best teachers from the more than 80 South Carolina school districts. At the event, one teacher will be named the 2016 South Carolina Teacher of the Year and will receive use of a BMW X3 for the next year.

The event will begin with a public parade of teachers at 5:30 p.m. into the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center located downtown at 1101 Lincoln Street. The public is invited to cheer on the state’s best teachers as a band leads them to the largest celebration of public education in South Carolina.

The event is sponsored by BMW, with support from a wide array of South Carolina’s top corporations including: Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, Mueller’s Pasta, Bojangles, Data Recognition Corporation, Michelin North America, Inc., Childs & Halligan, P.A., South Carolina Education Association, Palmetto State Teachers Association, Duff, White & Turner, L.L.C., Duke Energy and Security Federal.
