October 15, 2009

COLUMBIA, SC – October 15, 2009 – Ken Martin has joined Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands as vice president of communications and resource development.

“It’s a great time for Ken to join us at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands,” said Carter Clark, chief professional officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands. “With 31 different Clubs here in the Midlands, Ken will be busy with internal and external communications and marketing, managing our events, developing grants and helping with fundraising. But perhaps most importantly, Ken was a member of the Ben Arnold Club as a child, so he appreciates and embodies our vision.”

Martin attended USC Beaufort and majored in business administration and spent six years serving in the United States Navy. He has worked in profit sales and marketing/promotions and nonprofit fund raising and special event management and served as the founder and director of the South Carolina Safety Coalition. Most recently, Martin served as the district marketing manager for Toys ‘R Us/Babies ‘R Us, where he was responsible for designing and implementing marketing and sales promotional events for four states, including South Carolina.

“I’m excited to be at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands,” said Martin. “This job is the perfect opportunity to use my professional skill set to give back to the organization that’s given me so much. I was a member at Ben Arnold Club and now my two children are members of the Oak Grove Club.”
