Fairfield Electric Cooperative recently awarded a $278,000 Rural Development Act (RDA) grant to Kershaw County for infrastructure improvements to Heritage Pointe Industrial Park and Wateree Executive Business Park. The grant will be used to further develop the industrial parks currently served by the Cooperative.

The Cooperatives, through The South Carolina Rural Development Act of 1996, are allowed to provide funds for infrastructure improvements at industrial parks. Allowable expenditures include water, sewer, and roadway improvements as well as land acquisition and shell building construction.

Fairfield Electric serves more than 27,000 customers in Fairfield, Kershaw, Richland, Chester, and York Counties and is 1 of 20 cooperatives in South Carolina. Together these cooperatives serve more than 750,000 customers in all 46 counties of the state.

“We are pleased to provide the RDA grant money to help with economic development in Kershaw County. Fairfield Electric and Kershaw County have a long standing partnership of bringing jobs to the area and this grant will help to foster more jobs for Kershaw County.” – Bill Hart, Fairfield Electric CEO
