Kevin Bishop announces bid for Congress

March 7, 2024

Kevin Bishop, a resident of Easley and Pickens County for the past 25 years, today announced he will run for Congress in South Carolina’s Third Congressional District.

Bishop recently retired from serving as U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham’s long-time Communications Director.

“I was born and raised in South Carolina and for the past 25 years Easley and Pickens County have been my home,” said Bishop.  “It’s where Julie and I bought a house, joined a church, raised four wonderful children, and cheered on my Clemson Tigers.  The rest of the country could learn a lot from people and places like Easley.

“I’m a husband, father, conservative Republican,” continued Bishop.  “I’ll help President Trump secure our border, stop illegal immigration, end asylum abuse, and deport the illegals Joe Biden invited in.  I believe in strengthening families and protecting the unborn.  I’ll uphold the Second Amendment, fund a strong national defense, and I will always Stand with Israel.”

“I will put the values and beliefs of our district and its citizens front and center,” concluded Bishop.  “I will partner with our towns, cities, counties, law enforcement, economic development agencies, and educational institutions to help ensure the critical needs of the Third District are met.”

In January, Senator Graham praised Bishop in announcing his retirement by saying, “Kevin has one of the brightest minds in public service.  Kevin’s understanding of policy and politics at the state and national level is second-to-none.  He has been an invaluable advisor and friend – and at times, a sparring partner on the issues.

“More than 20 years ago, when I represented the Third Congressional District in the House of Representatives, Kevin asked if he could relocate back to South Carolina for a better way of life and to live with our constituents,” said Graham.  “Kevin and his wife Julie moved to Easley and have never looked back.”
