Kiawah Island Club Golf Professional wins his second Carolinas PGA event this year

On May 9th, Lee Stroever, the PGA Head Professional at Kiawah Island Club‘s The River Course, won the 2016 Hilton Head Island PGA (HHIPGA) Pro-Pro at Port Royal alongside playing partner Mike Perkins. Perkins is the Assistant Golf Professional at The River Course.The HHIPGA Pro-Pro win is Stroever’s second Carolinas Chapter PGA title this year. He won the HHIPGA Individual Stableford in February.

During the HHIPGA Pro-Pro tournament, Stroever made an epic hole-in-one on number six.”When Mike and I watched the ball go into the hole we didn’t exactly remain calm,” said Stroever.  “It was an exciting moment for us and it definitely jump started our round. Mike made a few big putts coming down the stretch, which ended up being the difference. It was a great team effort.”

Stroever’s final score was 67, making him five under par for the tournament.

About Lee Stroever

Stroever joined the Kiawah Island Club in January of 2016 as a Florida native who attended Rollins College in Winter Park, where he was a Member of its Division II National Championship golf team and was named a three-time Division II All-American. He spent the last year as an Assistant Golf Professional at McArthur Golf Club in Hobe Sound, FL working under the tutelage of General Manager Kevin Murphey. While there, Stroever was awarded the South Florida Section PGA Assistant Professional of the Year award. Prior to McArthur, he worked for five years at the North Palm Beach Country Club, holding numerous titles including Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional. Stroever won the South Florida PGA Southeast Chapter Junior Golf Leader in 2013.

He spent seven years playing golf professionally, qualifying for the 2012 PGA Professional National Championship and 2010 PGA National Assistants Championship, and becoming a five-time tournament winner while playing on the Golden Bear, Gateway and Tarheel Tours.
