GEORGETOWN, SC – January 17, 2012 – Kids’ Chance of South Carolina is a non-profit organization that provides scholarship and support to dependents of South Carolina workers who have been seriously injured or killed on the job.  Kids’ Chance welcomed two new board members last month:  Matthew Riddle and Harry Gregory will serve three-year terms.

Matthew Riddle is an attorney at Young Clement Rivers, LLP in Charleston, and practices primarily with the firm’s Workers’ Compensation Practice Group. He represents employers and insurance carriers throughout South Carolina. While in law school, Matt was a member of the Mercer Law Review and a CALI award recipient. His article Notice and Statute of Limitations Issues in Repetitive Trauma Cases was published in the May, 2011 issue of the South Carolina Lawyer magazine.

Harry B. Gregory, Jr. graduated cum laude from Woodberry Forest School and magna cum laude from the University of South Carolina.  He attended the University of South Carolina Law School and spent the next 17 years in private practice until being appointed by Governor Mark Sanford to the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission in 2003.  In 2004, Mr. Gregory was appointed Director of the South Carolina State Accident Fund.

Since being appointed Director of the South Carolina State Fund, Mr. Gregory has been elected to the Board of Directors and currently serves as Treasurer of the South Carolina Workers Compensation Educational Association, the leading association of workers’ compensation professionals in the state.  He has also been elected a Vice-President of the American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds and has served on the Association’s Executive Committee since 2007.

Active in many community and civic organizations, Mr. Gregory is also an avid sports fan and serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the University of South Carolina Gamecock Club.

Mr. Gregory was recognized as the University of South Carolina’s Outstanding Young Alumni in 1994.

The rest of Kids’ Chance’s Board and its staff are excited to use the talents and energy of Matt and Harry to make a difference in the lives of young people as they strive towards their educational goals.
