Charleston County School District has named Kimberly Richards the principal of Hunley Park Elementary School. Richards most recently served as the principal of Stono Park Elementary School and brings a strong record of school improvement and instructional leadership to her new role.

Richards began her career in education in 2005 as a Montessori teacher. After spending two years in the private sector, she transitioned to public schools, teaching Lower Elementary Montessori students (Grades 1-3) in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2012, she became Executive Director of Montessori of Winter Garden Charter School in Orlando, Florida, officially launching her school leadership journey. She later served as an elementary school principal in Denver Public Schools from 2014 to 2017, where she implemented school-wide systems focused on academic excellence and positive behavior. Additionally, Richards implemented the Conscious Discipline Social-Emotional Curriculum, which improved student self-regulation skills and relationships between staff and students.
