Lady Red Devils Fall to Chapman

March 31, 2021
The Lady Red Devils came out of the gate playing their brand of soccer.  Crisp passes, great runs, crosses and shots.  The Clinton girls looked dominant early in the game over Chapman.  However an early own-goal changed the game.

Keeper Lindsey Pysell

The defense started playing back on their heels and took less opportunities on the attack.  Chapman took advantage of the reserved play and scored their only earned goal of the game.  The Lady Devils came out of the break on fire and scored their first goal in the opening minutes.  Another mistake at the goal led to the ball crossing the line for a 3rd Chapman score.  Clinton continued to press and scored another to bring it back to a single score game.  Even though it appeared the Devils could actually beat the Panthers, they couldn’t beat the clock.

As time expired the Lady Devils tasted their 1st defeat.

Although the scorebook recorded it as a loss this was definitely a great sign for what the season holds.  Given up 1 earned score to a team the caliber of Chapman while earning two of their own affirms the belief that the Lady Devils can make a run at the playoffs and possible the region title. Lauren Wargo won offensive player of the game with 2 goals and Lindsey Pysell earned defensive player with outstanding keeper play.
