Lander Department of Music to Host Alumnus Matthew Bratton
January 28, 2025The community is invited to join the Department of Music at Lander University for its upcoming Alumni Honors Recital, featuring percussionist Matthew Bratton, of the Lander Class of 2017. The recital will take place Tuesday, February 4 at 7 p.m. in the Abney Cultural Center Auditorium on the Lander campus, and is free and open to the public.
Musician Bio:
Matthew Bratton is a freelance percussionist and instructor in Rock Hill, South Carolina. After earning his bachelor’s in music from Lander, hecompleted a Master of Arts in Teaching Music Education at Winthrop University in 2021. Matthew has taught lessons and masterclasses at various high schools in North and South Carolina, and hopes to provide better instruction and knowledge of percussion to students who may have not received otherwise. Matt has had experience in playing in various musicals at his local theatre, and numerous gigs, and has led his own jazz combo group named Invictus. He now continues to learn and gain experience in becoming a better-rounded musician and educator.
