Laurens City Council Sends Zoning Ordinance & Map Back for Further Review; Public Feedback Encouraged

The City of Laurens continues its effort to update zoning regulations following City Council’s recent decision to send the proposed Zoning Ordinance & Map back to the Planning Commission for further review. This move comes after extensive public engagement, including town hall meetings and one-on-one discussions with property owners.

City officials remain committed to ensuring that residents have multiple opportunities to review the proposed zoning map and provide feedback before the next round of deliberations.

How to Review the Updated Zoning Map and Submit Feedback

Residents can review the updated zoning map at several locations throughout the city or online. Feedback can be submitted via written forms available at each location or through an online submission form at www.cityoflaurenssc.com.

• The Ridge – 301 Exchange Drive
• City Hall – 126 E. Public Square
• Laurens Police Department – 250 W. Laurens Street
• Laurens County Library – 1017 W. Main Street

How to Submit Feedback:

• Fill out a Zoning Feedback Form at one of the above locations or online.
• Include your Tax Map Number (found on your tax bill or through the Laurens County GIS system).
• Provide your name, contact information, property address, and concerns or comments regarding the zoning changes.

Public Review & Feedback Period (Now – March 6, 2025)

City staff will collect and review all public input, ensuring community concerns are considered alongside city growth strategies and sustainable development goals.

Planning Commission Review – March 11, 2025 (3:00 PM)

The Laurens Planning Commission will review the public feedback and make any necessary adjustments. If approved, the commission will send its recommendation to City Council.

City Council Consideration – March 18, 2025 (5:30 PM)

At the upcoming City Council meeting, members will conduct the second reading of the revised Zoning Ordinance & Map. If approved, the updated zoning ordinance will be finalized.
