February 12, 2025A strong turnout of professional women gathered for the together for the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce’s Women at Work Networking Event, a quarterly opportunity designed to foster professional growth, meaningful networking, and mentorship. Hosted by the Chamber, this event provides a platform for Laurens County women to connect, learn, and support one another in their careers.
Dr. Jennifer M. Rogers, Chief Nursing Officer for Prisma Health Hillcrest and Laurens County Hospitals, served as the keynote speaker. With over 25 years of nursing experience in patient care, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance, Dr. Rogers brought a wealth of knowledge to the discussion. She highlighted that cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death for women, accounting for one in three female deaths each year.
During her presentation, Dr. Rogers addressed key risk factors for heart disease, including high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, obesity, and lack of physical activity. She also stressed the importance of recognizing warning signs such as chest pain, shortness of breath, and extreme fatigue—symptoms that often present differently in women than in men.
The event provided attendees with valuable insights on maintaining heart health through lifestyle choices, including regular exercise, healthy eating, stress management, and routine health screenings.
“We are thrilled to see so many women come together for this event—not only to grow their professional networks but also to prioritize their health and well-being,” said Graysen Martin, Communication & Marketing Coordinator for the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce. “This was a great opportunity to learn from Dr. Rogers and gain practical knowledge about heart health that can have a lasting impact.”
