Laurens County Farmer Wins Award at Sunbelt Ag Expo

October 21, 2021

Farming is big business in Laurens County.

Farmers take great pride in the work they do and the quality of the products they produce.  This year at the 2021 Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie, GA three South Carolina farmers were among the winners in the seven categories for the hay.

Pictured below (left to right) is FoxPipe Farm (Reed Edwards), Brent Seyer, and Yon Family Farms. Reed Edwards of Fox Pipe Farm located in Laurens County won third place in the mixed/annual grass or other hays category. His hay is a mix of Bulldog 505 alfalfa and Estancia Tall Fescue.

“I’m excited to have placed in the Southeastern Hay Contest with hay containing Novel Endophyte Tall Fescue,” said Edwards.

FoxPipe Farm is a 90 acre farm just outside of Laurens SC that produces Sericea Lespedeza and Alfalfa/grass mix hays. Pastures for livestock grazing contain diverse mixtures of grass, legumes, and forbs providing high quality feed for livestock, as well as habitat for birds and insects. An additional benefit of the diversity is enhancing the health of the soil and improving soil organic matter.

Congratulations to FoxPipe Farm and the other South Carolina winners.
