Laurens County Freedom Fest Starts Friday

June 29, 2022

Independence Day or July 4th is not until Monday, but Laurens County is set to celebrate all weekend long.

“I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve!  I can’t wait for this weekend, and I know a lot of us at the City of Laurens feel that way!  We’re all excited about hosting this great countywide event,” said Mayor Nathan Senn. “What better way to celebrate our independence than for our whole county to get together for a parade? Add to that a brass band playing patriotic music, a hilarious comedian, a massively entertaining band, and an award-winning light and fireworks show.”

In what is said to be the first county wide effort, the 2022 Independence Day celebration in Laurens County has something for everyone.

Finally Friday on Friday (of course), July 1 will bring JT Sayers to the stage on the Public with his unique and popular sound.  If you’ve never been, bring the kids and come out to enjoy the music and grab dinner from food truck options and local restaurants. Finally Friday is from 5:30-9:00pm.

On Saturday locals can enjoy the return of Laurens Idol. Local talent will participate in the friendly talent competition hosted by comedian Al Ernst. Laurens Idol will start at 5:00 pm and conclude at 7:00 pm.

Sunday afternoon’s festivities will start at 4:00 pm with a county-wide parade followed by a brass band on the main stage and the announcement of parade awards.  Several other events are in the lineup for Sunday evening with the fireworks finale to start at 10:00 pm.

But wait! Is there more?

“We have a few surprises up our sleeves too,” said Mayor Senn. “Sunday is going to be an incredible day, with fun for the whole family!”
