Laurens County Humane Society Breaks Ground on New Spay/Neuter Facility in Clinton

May 27, 2025

The Laurens County Humane Society celebrated a major milestone today with a groundbreaking ceremony for its new low-cost spay and neuter facility. Located adjacent to the current shelter at 793 Poplar Street in Clinton, the new building will enhance the nonprofit’s mission of reducing pet overpopulation and supporting responsible pet ownership throughout Laurens County.

P&F Construction has been selected as the general contractor for the project. The new 900-square-foot building will mirror the exterior design of the existing facility and will include a fully equipped surgical suite, separate dog and cat holding/recovery rooms, and an office/reception area to serve clients.

“We are excited to take this next step in expanding our services,” said Marvin Moss, board member for the Laurens County Humane Society. “This facility has been a longtime goal, and it will allow us to provide affordable, accessible spay and neuter services right here in our community.”

The Humane Society estimates the facility will be completed by October of this year. Once operational, the new center is expected to significantly increase the organization’s capacity to provide preventive care to pet owners in need.
