Recycling Center
Located at 202 Landfill Road, the Laurens County Recycling Center serves as the primary drop-off site for bulk recyclable materials and specialty items not accepted at Green Box Sites. This facility helps support the county’s environmental goals by diverting large quantities of materials from the waste stream.
Items accepted at the Recycling Center include:
- Aluminum and other metals
- Batteries (car, truck, boat)
- Cardboard (free of Styrofoam, plastic, and food)
- Paper
- Tires (limit of 4 off-rim tires every two weeks)
- Glass bottles, jugs, and jars (clear, brown, and green)
- Used motor oil, oil bottles, and filters
- Cooking oil
The following items are accepted only at the Recycling Center:
- Plastic bottles (#1 and #2)
- Scrap metal
- Large appliances (washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc.)
- Limb debris
Residents are encouraged to rinse containers and remove food waste or packaging before recycling.
Transfer Station
The Laurens County Transfer Station, located at 350 Landfill Road, accepts large loads of solid waste, including construction and demolition debris. There is a fee for disposal at this site. As a transfer station rather than a landfill, the facility collects waste for transport to approved landfills outside the county. The site also serves as the main office of the Laurens County Rural Collections Department.
A Community Effort Toward a Cleaner County
Courtney Stonell, Affiliate Coordinator for Keep Laurens County Beautiful, emphasized the importance of proper waste disposal and recycling in protecting the community’s health and natural beauty.
“When residents use the county’s disposal and recycling services correctly, it makes a real difference,” Stonell said. “From keeping roadside litter under control to reducing the strain on our environment, these efforts are essential to maintaining the quality of life we all enjoy in Laurens County.”
Laurens County remains committed to providing convenient and environmentally responsible services for solid waste disposal and recycling. By using these services and following disposal guidelines, residents can help support a cleaner, healthier community.
