January 16, 2024

Students and faculty members at Laurens Middle School (LMS) are grieving the loss of Mr. Thomas Stevenson. Mr. Stevenson passed away on January 11, 2024.

Stevenson served as the In-School Suspension and Computer Lab Teacher. He previously served at Hickory Tavern School. He will be missed by many who had the opportunity to work with him.

Jeri Manley, Laurens County School District 55 (LCSD 55) District Office Staff Member, worked with Mr. Stevenson at LMS for four years. Jeri said, “Mr. Stevenson was a man of many talents. He was always hands-on with students and kept the school spirit alive. He dressed up as Santa Claus and brought smiles to everyone’s faces. He was always willing to step up and help others wherever needed.”

LCSD 55 understands that the loss of someone is painful and traumatic. LCSD 55 mental health counselors are onsite at LMS to support students, faculty, and staff during this difficult period.

The LCSD55 asks that the community keep Mr. Stevenson’s family and the LMS Family in their thoughts and prayers. To learn more about Tom Stevenson and his life click HERE to read the obituary.
