Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Honors Service and Dedication at Annual Christmas Dinner

December 9, 2024

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office gathered on December 5th for their annual Employee Christmas Dinner, a cherished tradition to reflect, celebrate, and show appreciation for the dedication and service of their team.

This year’s event highlighted incredible milestones, honoring employees who have served the Laurens County community for decades. Recognized for 30+ years of service were C. Boyce and A. Hunter, B. Blackmon for 25+ years, while S. Patterson, M. Coats, M. Crain, W. Word, R. Wilkie, D. Ward, and K. Dyer were celebrated for their 20+ years of commitment.

Special recognition was given to Investigator Ben Blackmon, who is retiring after more than 25 years of service. Sheriff Don Reynolds expressed gratitude for Blackmon’s steadfast dedication, “Investigator Blackmon’s service to this office and the people of Laurens County has been invaluable.

We are thankful for his commitment and wish him the very best in his well-deserved retirement.”

Annual Awards Presentation
The evening also included the presentation of annual awards:

  • Administrative Assistant of the Year: Tina Tapp
  • Detention Deputy of the Year: Dennis Hampton
  • Deputy of the Year: Deputy Valentine

“These individuals go above and beyond in their roles, making a meaningful impact not just in our office but throughout our community,” Sheriff Reynolds shared. “Their dedication is seen and deeply appreciated.”

Community Support and Contributions
In the spirit of the season, American Legion Post 25 presented a $1,000 check to the Sheriff’s Office’s Christmas for Kids program. Sheriff Reynolds thanked the organization for its ongoing support, as well as two dedicated volunteers, Steve and Debbie Landers, for their contributions to numerous events. Recognition was also given to Tractor Supply for their continued partnership, including hosting and supporting the annual K9 fundraiser.

To close the evening, Sheriff Reynolds shared heartfelt thanks, “To all of our employees and their families—thank you for your service, sacrifice, and commitment to Laurens County. This dinner reminds us of the strength of our team and the bond that holds us together. Merry Christmas from all of us at LCSO!”

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office remains grateful for their team and the community partnerships that make events like this possible.
