Laurens County Sheriff’s Office K9 fundraiser set for Saturday

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office will hold its annual K9 fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Tractor Supply Co., 917 E. Main St. in Laurens, with a live K9 demonstration scheduled for noon.
The event is free to attend and is planned as a family day. Along with the demonstration, the fundraiser will feature vendors, children’s activities, hot dogs and a raffle stocked with donated prizes. Proceeds support the sheriff’s office K9 unit, covering training, equipment and the ongoing care of the working dogs.
“These dogs work every day alongside our deputies, and this event is how the community helps us take care of them,” Sheriff Don Reynolds said. “We would love to see a big crowd out there Saturday.”
The noon demonstration gives attendees a close look at how the K9s train and work with their handlers, from obedience work to tracking and apprehension exercises.
Public Information Officer Courtney Snow said the K9 demonstration is worth planning around.
“If you have never seen one of our K9s work up close, come at noon,” Snow said. “It is a favorite with kids and adults alike. It shows people exactly what their donations are helping to fund.”
Vendors and sponsors are still welcome. There is no vendor fee, and participating vendors are asked to make a donation to the K9 program the day of the event.
