Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Reflects on 2024 Achievements

January 20, 2025

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) has released its 2024 year-in-review statistics, highlighting significant strides in public safety and community engagement. The department responded to 36,216 calls for service in 2024, marking a decrease of nearly 4,000 calls compared to 2023.

Sheriff Don Reynolds attributed this decline to the department’s increased visibility and proactive crime prevention strategies. “I am incredibly proud of the men and women of this office and their unwavering dedication to this community,” Reynolds said. “Their commitment to serving others is truly inspiring. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve Laurens County and look forward to continuing our mission of safety and service.”

Key Statistics from 2024

  • Calls for Service: 36,216
  • Animal Control Responses: 4,171
  • Civil Services: 6,222
  • Detention Center Bookings: 3,256
  • Average Response Time: 18 minutes and 46 seconds

The average response time improved by over three minutes compared to 2023, a reflection of ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency across Laurens County’s more than 700 square miles. While this number represents an overall average, emergency response times remain prioritized to ensure rapid assistance when needed.

In addition to addressing calls for service, the LCSO has focused on fostering trust and building partnerships within the community through various outreach programs. Sheriff Reynolds emphasized the importance of this connection, noting, “We remain committed to building trust and fostering partnerships. It is through these relationships that we continue to make Laurens County a safer place for all.”

As the LCSO looks ahead to 2025, the department remains dedicated to its mission of safety and service, striving to maintain and build upon the progress achieved in 2024.
