Laurens County voters face key registration and early voting deadlines ahead of Nov. 3 general election

Laurens County residents planning to cast a ballot in the Nov. 3 general election have several important deadlines approaching, and the Laurens County Board of Voter Registration and Elections is encouraging voters to plan ahead.
The general election will decide federal, state and local races, and eligible residents who are not yet registered have only a short window left to do so.
Registration deadlines
The deadline to register to vote in person is Friday, Oct. 2. Laurens County residents may register at the Laurens County Board of Voter Registration and Elections office, located in the Bolt Drive Complex at 105 Bolt Drive, Suite B, in Laurens. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Those who prefer to register online have until Sunday, Oct. 4. Online registration is available through the South Carolina Election Commission’s website, scVOTES.gov, for residents with a valid South Carolina driver’s license or DMV-issued identification card.
Voter registration forms sent by mail must be postmarked by Monday, Oct. 5. Mailed forms should be sent to the Laurens County Board of Voter Registration and Elections, P.O. Box 769, Laurens, SC 29360.
Residents who have moved, changed their name or are unsure of their registration status are encouraged to check and update their information before the deadlines pass.
Early voting
Early voting runs from Monday, Oct. 19, through Saturday, Oct. 31. Early voting centers statewide are open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and are closed on Sundays. Any registered voter may cast a ballot early without needing to provide a reason.
In recent elections, early voting in Laurens County has taken place at the voter registration and elections office on Bolt Drive. Voters are encouraged to contact the office to confirm early voting locations for the general election.
Absentee voting
Registered voters who are unable to vote in person during early voting or on Election Day may qualify to vote absentee by mail. Requests for absentee ballots must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. Completed absentee ballots must be returned to the Laurens County Board of Voter Registration and Elections by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
Election Day
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3. Anyone in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote. Voters can find their assigned polling place at scVOTES.gov or by contacting the county elections office.
South Carolina requires voters to show a valid photo ID at the polls, such as a South Carolina driver’s license, a DMV-issued ID card, a South Carolina voter registration card with photo, a federal military ID or a U.S. passport.
