Laurens Police Department Adds Victim’s Advocate

The Laurens Police Department and the City of Laurens have announced the hiring of the City’s first ever full time Victim’s Advocate.

Amanda Veal has been hired to fill the new position and she started in the role on August 9th.

Veal brings extensive experience and knowledge to the job and has a proven record of serving the citizens of Laurens County. She has served as a law clerk for the 8th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, as an executive assistant to the City Manager of the City of Clinton, and also served as Legal Assistant for Townsend and Thompson Law Firm. Veal has an associate degree in business administration.

The Victim’s Advocate position is a full-time position and Veal will work full time out of the Laurens Police Department Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm. She will also respond to after-hours calls where her services are needed.
