LC Touchdown Club Announces Player of the Week – Javaye Suber

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for games played on October 13th, the Player of the week is junior defensive back and special teams player Javaye Suber of Laurens District High School.

Suber is a junior safety and special teams player for the Laurens Raiders who greatly aided in the Raiders 23 – 13 comeback win over Wade Hampton Friday night.

Suber, a Laurens District High junior, had four solo tackles, 3 assists and 1 pass break up for the Raiders.  Most importantly, Suber had two interceptions with the first interception being returned 47 yards to the Generals eight yard line to set up a Raiders touchdown on the next play and the second interception returned 27 yards for a pick-six touchdown to put the Raiders up at that time 23 – 7 with 8:39 remaining in the 4th quarter.

Laurens District High School Head Coach Daryl Smith stated, Javaye Suber plays with great speed and technique at safety.  He also has great instincts and amazing hands.  You can tell he loves the game because he practices as hard as he plays on Friday nights.  He’s doing an amazing job this year.”

The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Suber on October 19th at the bi-monthlyTouchdown Club meeting.  The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens.  Player of the Week awards this year is presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.

The October 19th meeting will feature the new incoming Executive Director of the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association taking over the reins from longstanding former Executive Director and Laurens native Coach Shell Dula.

The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited.  Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. All meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am.
