LC Touchdown Club Announces Player of the Week – Travois Quarles

The Laurens County Touchdown Club is proud to announce that for games played on September 15th, the Player of the week is Travious Quarles from Thornwell Charter School.

Quarles is a junior RB/DB and team leader for Thornwell Charter School. The Saints defeated Clear Dot Academy 34-20 Friday night for their first win of the season. The Victory Bell was once again ringing in Clinton this past Friday as Thornwell renewed this long-time tradition.

Quarles ran the ball 16 times for 102 yards in Thornwell’s 34 -20 victory over Clear Dot Academy. He had 1 reception for 13 yards and made 5.5 tackles on defense in Thornwell’s Friday night win. Quarles also broke up 2 passes and had one interception for the Saints.

Head Coach Charlie Washington states “we tried our best to minimize our mistakes. Things from practice this week started to click, and understanding was clear. The Game was well played as a team.” Coach Washington stated, Travious Quarles was big factor in our win Friday night.

The Laurens County Touchdown Club will honor Quarles on September 21st at the third Touchdown Club meeting of the year. The Touchdown Club will also honor Laurens Academy’s Buddy Baker for his outstanding playing two weeks ago for the Crusaders. The meeting will be at noon at The Ridge in Laurens. Player of the Week awards this year are presented by Farm Bureau Insurance of Laurens County.

The September 21st meeting will feature Newberry College Head Football Coach Todd Knight.

The Laurens County Touchdown Club meets every other Thursday throughout the football season at The Ridge located in Laurens at 301 Exchange Road and the public is invited. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15. All meetings are at Noon with the food service line opening at 11:45 am.
