LCSD 55 Board Approves Employee Bonus

May 3, 2021

On Monday, April 26, 2021, at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Laurens County School District 55 (LCSD 55) Board of Trustees, Superintendent Dr. Ameca C. Thomas requested approval of an $850 bonus payment for every employee of LCSD 55. In her proposal, Thomas said, “I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the district employees of Laurens 55 for all they do every day to meet the needs of our students … in a situation where we really have not had any control. This year is unlike any other year that we have experienced, and I am thankful for all of the hard work of all of the staff, teachers, and administrators in this unprecedented year. Things continue to evolve, and our staff continues to make changes, staying flexible and positive.” Thomas added that, because of the circumstances, “many staff members are having to pick up extra duties and cover classes. This creates more work they are having to do after school, at home, and on the weekends. So, I am truly grateful to our staff for being flexible, for being positive, and for all of their hard work and their understanding.”

In a formal request to the LCSD 55 Board of Trustees, Thomas said, “I would like to recommend to the board an appreciation bonus for all employees. This bonus will serve as a small token to show every employee just how much we appreciate all they do each day.” The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the bonus to be distributed to all employees on May 5, 2021.

LCSD 55 serves Laurens, Waterloo, Gray Court, Hickory Tavern, and their surrounding residents in the northwestern half of Laurens County, SC.
