LCSO Celebrates Graduation of Fallen Officer’s Daughter

Members of law enforcement often refer to their colleagues as family. They spend so much time together and, in many cases, rely on each other in life and death situations.

The bond is unbreakable.

On July 14, 2011, Laurens County Deputy Roger Rice was killed in the line of duty. The tragedy rocked Laurens County and devastated the law enforcement community and Deputy Rice’s family.

Almost ten years after Deputy Rice’s death, the Laurens County Sherriff’s office was there to support his daughter, Kristin Rice, as she graduated from Laurens District 55 High School.

“We serve to protect the citizens of Laurens County and there is a bond we share within this office in doing so. We stand ready to help those in need, especially our own family here,” said Sheriff Don Reynolds.  “We are very proud of Kristin’s accomplishments and wish her well in the future.”

Kristin will continue her education at Piedmont Tech and then transfer to Lander. She plans to pursue her education in law and psychology.
