LCWSC hospital tank in the running for national Tank of the Year honor

October 12, 2026

The Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission is asking residents to help one of its newest pieces of infrastructure earn national recognition.

LCWSC’s recently built Hospital Tank has been entered in Tnemec’s 2026 Tank of the Year competition, and the utility is competing for the People’s Choice award, which is decided by public vote. Voting opened Oct. 5 and runs through Oct. 16.

Tnemec, a manufacturer of protective coatings, holds the annual contest to recognize water tanks across the country for their design, coating work and visual impact on their communities. The People’s Choice category gives the public a voice in selecting a winner. Tnemec plans to announce this year’s Tank of the Year on Oct. 23.

The Hospital Tank features a white finish with a blue wave design and the LCWSC logo alongside the commission’s slogan, “Trust in Every Drop.” It stands near an older LCWSC tank, offering a visible contrast between the utility’s past and present infrastructure.

In announcing the entry, LCWSC described the tank as a symbol of its commitment to providing safe, reliable water to current customers while planning for future growth in Laurens County. The commission encouraged residents to show hometown pride and help bring statewide and national attention to the county.

Each email address may cast one vote. Residents can vote by scanning the QR code on LCWSC’s promotional materials and social media posts, or by visiting tnemec.com/tank-of-the-year-2026/laurens-south-carolina.

LCWSC is also asking supporters to share the voting information with friends and family to help build support before the Oct. 16 deadline.
